In five NFL seasons, Hilton has 5,861 career receiving yards.

Indianapolis Colts jersey china

It was Hilton’s seventh career multiple-touchdown game and, of course, helped snapped a three-game losing streak for the Colts. They now host the Pittsburgh Steelers at Lucas Oil Stadium next Sunday, with Week 10 now clear of many of the distractions that loomed prior to the Houston contest.

Over his career, Hilton has compiled 10 career 150-plus-yard receiving games, which is tied for the fourth-most in a player’s first six seasons in the NFL. The chatter grew even louder last week, as Hilton’s name was tossed around on the rumor mill as the league’s trade deadline came and went. Hilton’s day included five receptions for 175 yards and two touchdowns, and the Colts would need every bit of his production in their 20-14 victory at NRG Stadium.

“It will help. It will help tremendously,” Butler said. “A lot of them had a lot of opportunity to play that they wouldn’t have gotten in a lot of different situations. You know you get that learning experience and the other experience you know being in a lot of close games or leading at halftime then losing in the second half. You learn from that. You have to learn how to win. You have to get beat by certain things and these players they’ll definitely learn from it.”

The rest of the play is the product of Hilton’s top-end speed, as well as some blocking help down the field from Rogers. Hilton, as he’s done so often in his career, is able to snake around at least three members of the Jaguars’ secondary to find an opening to the end zone, getting up to 18.1 miles per hour at the height of his sprint, according to NFL Next Gen Stats. Rogers, meanwhile, seals off cornerback Aaron Colvin and cheap Colts jerseys prevents him from even having a shot at Hilton in the final stretch of his run to complete the 40-yard passing play. Hilton, who finished with three receptions for 51 yards, now has 41 receptions for a team-best 791 yards and four touchdowns on the year, and averaging a Colts’ best 19.3 yards per reception.

So last week, when Carr and Hilton found themselves back practicing together on the same AFC Pro Bowl squad, the two promised each other they’d try to get some payback. Fast forward to the 6:37 mark in the third quarter of Sunday’s Pro Bowl game, and Carr, in for his first series under center for the AFC, didn’t waste much time. On just the third play of the drive, he launched yet another pass deep towards Hilton, who was being draped by All-Pro cornerback Patrick Peterson.

“It’s always fun playing with Derek,” said Hilton, who led all players with 98 receiving yards on the day. “He told me we were going to get one, and once he threw it I had to go get it. And it was fun making a play.”

Richard Sherman certainly hasn’t forgotten about that day. And if he’s tasked with at times shadowing Hilton throughout Sunday night’s Week 4 matchup at CenturyLink Field, the cornerback said it’ll take a better overall effort from the entire secondary to try to slow Hilton down.

“That’s what they need me to do,” Hilton said. “I’m a big-play guy, so for me it’s just go out there, play my game and make the big plays. Normally when I make those plays, we win.”

With so much already accomplished, however, Hilton isn’t about to become satisfied. He said he’s spent this entire offseason again continuing to work on everything he can to ensure he improves once again and remains a threat all over the field.

Hilton’s right: in the Colts’ four victories in 2017, he averaged more than five receptions for almost 130 yards and scored a combined three touchdowns. So will Sherman be matched up against Hilton throughout Sunday’s game? Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll told reporters this week that they’ll just have to wait and see.

The Colts set a pair of NFL records last season, largely thanks to Pat McAfee.

This past season, McAfee totaled 55 punts for 2,711 yards, averaging an NFL-best 49.3 yards per punt, which is the best average in franchise history. His 42.7 net punting average was third in the league. McAfee made the Pro Bowl twice while averaging 46.4 gross yards per punt and 39.8 net yards per punt. He had 33.6 percent of his 575 punt attempts land inside the opponent’s 20-yard line.

McAfee’s game against the Bills was even up and beyond a typical McAfee performance, and that’s really saying something, considering how the West Virginia product has been one of the top punters in the league over his eight-year NFL career.

Indianapolis Colts jersey for sale

The task now for new Colts general manager Chris Ballard is to find a capable replacement for McAfee, which is easier said than done, considering he has been one of the colts jersey sale top punters in the league, as well as an outstanding kickoff specialist.

“I say this with 100 percent sincerity: that conversion I had with Jim Irsay was one of the most incredible conversations I’ve ever had in my entire life,” McAfee said. “And he started off confused, but by the end of it, gigantic hug, incredibly happy for me, told me not to be a stranger, and literally the next day, he had his assistant sending me articles about the future of Hollywood and how I could get better, and be better at this and that. So I have his full blessing, which was a gigantic weight off my shoulders.”

Now, all players are subjected to these random tests throughout the season, and punters are no exception to the rule. But McAfee joked on his Twitter account that after his performance in the Colts’ preseason opener against the Buffalo Bills, perhaps the “randomness” of the drug test wasn’t so random after all.

The bond between McAfee and King started while they attended the Kohl’s Kicking Camp at the University of Whitewater-Wisconsin several years ago. The Oakland punter recalled the first time he met McAfee. The Colts punter was sporting “bright green shorts and a plaid vest. Didn’t match at all. No swag. But his personality allowed him to have swag.”

Not many people likely expected a punter to be the first outside free-agent signing made by new general manager Chris Ballard. It’s not a glamorous move, but signing Locke was a move that was necessary because of the retirement of McAfee after eight seasons in the NFL.

Pat McAfee jersey cheap

The NFL and USAA, the league’s Official Military Appreciation Sponsor, announced on Thursday that McAfee and Buccaneers wide receiver Vincent Jackson were the two finalists for the fifth annual Salute to Service Award. But there’s the Pat McAfee from on the football field that the Colts now face the reality of having to replace. He surprised everybody by retiring at age 29 during the middle of the night Thursday to join Barstool Sports.

McAfee has swung an imaginary golf club after landing a punt inside the opponent’s 10-yard line. He’s strutted around the field like Conor McGregor and Vince McMahon and danced like Razor Ramon. Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin even mocked McAfee after he pulled off the McGregor imitation during the teams’ Thanksgiving game.

After letting Irsay know of his decision, McAfee said he explained what he’ll be doing for Barstool Sports, which will include opening up an office in Indianapolis, where he’ll be running the show.

McAfee was the Colts’ emergency quarterback until they gave Whalen that role. It’s not surprising McAfee is volunteering his quarterbacking skills. He’s already one of the best punters in the NFL and he wants the opportunity to kick field goals at some point in his career.

Who starts at corner with Davis in 2017 is still a mystery nearly a month into free agency.

That year, as the Colts marched to the AFC Championship, Davis was unquestionably one of the top corners in the NFL.

Indianapolis Colts jersey cheap

Davis was a full participant in practice Thursday and Friday after resting on Wednesday. It is not known when or how Davis got the ankle injury. But he’s also hearing it from his coaches, who have always preached what a high-caliber Davis means to the entire defense.

His absence only complicates the decision-making process for Indy’s front office with the cut-down deadline looming with Saturday afternoon. Davis had arguably the best training camp of his career and was projected to be one of the defensive stalwarts following Robert Mathis’ retirement. Davis missed the first two games last season with an injured ankle and six games in 2012 with a knee injury.

Vontae Davis, who suffered a “significant” groin injury in the Colts’ third preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, participated in practice on Wednesday for the first time since that Aug. 26 matchup. Head coach Chuck Pagano said Davis, who was labeled as “limited” on Wednesday will slowly be worked back into the mix.

This time around, especially, hasn’t been easy for Davis, who, according to head coach Chuck Pagano, was having his best training camp in years when he suffered a groin injury in the team’s third preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Davis played 21 snaps in Saturday’s game. He finished second on the team with seven total tackles, including a tackle for a loss of three yards on a pass play from quarterback Landry Jones to wide receiver Martavis Bryant with just less than 13 minutes to go in the second quarter.

“You’ve got to have physical corner play and both of those guys have those traits,” Monachino says of Davis and Robinson. “They have a tendency, both of them, at times to go a little bit up and down and go in nfl Colts jerseys and out of each of those, but both have dominant traits in coverage. Both these guys can play man, both can play zone, both can drive and break on the ball and both have excellent ball skills.

Vontae Davis jersey

This side of Davis is not something the public has seen too much in his five previous seasons with the Colts. Unlike most No. 1 cornerbacks, Davis is much quieter in front of a camera. But we heard a louder Davis this spring, as he enters a contract year at the age of 29. A more vocal Davis is something the Colts need with all the turnover that has gone on throughout their defensive unit.

If you are Chuck Pagano, that’s what you want. Two of your best players letting the rest of the team know the level of competition needed this time of year. It was nothing malicious between Hilton and Davis. Just two competitors going at it. Davis wants to get back to the Pro Bowl in a contract year. Hilton wants to silence any remaining doubters on him being known as a true elite, elite receiver in this league.

This is the second straight year that Davis opened the season with an injury. He missed the first two games of the 2016 season with a foot injury. Davis’ return was big enough that veteran running back Frank Gore went over to Davis during a media scrum earlier in the week and brought out plenty of laughs when he started interviewing the cornerback.

The alarming number of injuries have put the Colts in a tough position because they have to trim their roster down to 53 players by Saturday afternoon. There aren’t timetables for when the injured players will return, which will impact how the Colts decide to shape their roster. A player such as Luck is expected back sooner than later, so he’ll count toward the 53-man roster. The Colts will have to weigh whether a player should go on injured reserve or hold out hope that he’ll be back on the playing field in the near future.

Jabaal Sheard can do it all from the outside linebacker position

 indianapolis colts alternate jersey

The Patriots signed Sheard in 2015, after he spent the first four seasons of his career with the Cleveland Browns.

In Super Bowl LI, Sheard played 47 percent of the Patriots’ defensive snaps and had a half sack of Matt Ryan.

When the Patriots traded Chandler Jones last September, that move thrusted Sheard into a bigger role.

Jabaal Sheard can do it all from the outside linebacker position: he’s effective in stopping the run, he can drop back and provide solid coverage and Indianapolis Colts jerseys, of course, he’s a relentless pass rusher.

And now he’s being counted on to help lead the way for the Indianapolis Colts’ defensive makeover for the 2017 season.

After Sunday’s practice, Chuck Pagano spoke very highly of Hooker. Pagano said Hooker is further along than the staff could have hoped after just one week of practice. Is Week Two of camp when we see Hooker take consistent starting reps?

Mingo, then, is a player looking to put it all together after the Cleveland Browns took him sixth overall in the 2013 NFL Draft. A freak of an athlete, Mingo hasn’t quite been the pass rush threat many had hoped – he had five sacks his rookie season, two sacks the next season and hasn’t registered a sack the previous two seasons with the Browns and the New England Patriots – but he has 11 career passes defensed, as well as an interception.

Pagano said after practice that nothing should be read into Luck being at practice the last two days possibly leading to an imminent return. Luck remains on the PUP list. The Colts are five weeks away from their regular season opener.

After never even sniffing the playoffs in four years with the Browns, Mingo finally got to experience something on his mind since college.

While Simon has yet to record a regular season interception as he enters his fifth season in the NFL, he certainly takes pride in his coverage skills, and appreciates the help of those around him as they try to continue working on the overall goal of creating more takeaways as a unit.

“Vontae did a hell of a job just being able to put that ball in play for the rest of the defense, getting his hands on the ball,” Simon said. “It was, pretty much, just great coverage and trying to capitalize on our opportunities and put our offense in good field position.”

Jabaal Sheard jersey cheap

Sheard, meanwhile, displayed the explosiveness on Sunday that makes Pagano believe he can be a double-digit sack guy for the Colts and defensive coordinator Ted Monachino.

“I think we came out there and did some good things; obviously did some things poorly that we’ll have to go on the film and correct,” Simon said. “Gave up zero points, so that’s a plus, but gave up some big plays here and there, which we’ll have to limit.

One of the main storylines of free agency for the Colts has been Chris Ballard’s revamping of the outside linebacker position.

“I think next week we’ll be playing more and more reps, so we’re going to have to treat it more like a game week going into next week,” Simon continued. “They’re another good team that we’re going to have to go up against, and it’s going to be a good challenge for us to see where we really are.”

Coming off two straight 8-8 seasons is obviously disappointing, and as a result a lot of people write the Colts off this season and I don’t really understand why. Now, I’m not saying that the Colts are going to compete for a Super Bowl this year. That’s just unrealistic, but I can absolutely see them getting back into the playoffs this year. Pretty easily in fact. Provided Luck returns to form after his shoulder surgery in January, he should be even better without the lingering injury he dealt with all of 2016, and he was pretty good in 2016. The offensive line remains intact from last season, and I saw improvements towards the end of the year. Defensively, there’s no way we can be as bad in 2017.

The Browns traded Mingo to the Patriots during last year’s preseason

The Oakland Raiders continued to tool their roster by making another waiver claim and filling their 10-man practice squad Monday.

Oakland claimed defensive end Lavar Edwards from Dallas. Cornerback Chimdi Chekwa was put on the injured reserve to make room for Edwards. He was a fifth-round pick by Tennessee two years ago and traded to the Cowboys last year. He has one NFL start. The Raiders now have six defensive ends on the roster. Oakland claimed safety Keenan Lambert form Seattle on Sunday.

Carolina Panthers defensive end Lavar Edwards is with his sixth NFL team – including two stints with the Dallas Cowboys — since 2013. He’s been cut five times and traded once.

One theme that is pretty much inevitable in the Indianapolis Colts jersey NFL these days is turnover, as injuries, ineffectiveness and a desire to change things up at various positions often parlays into dozens of changes each and every year.

Do the recruiting coaches feel any advantage in having someone like Lavar Edwards, who wasn’t a starter his senior year, get drafted into the NFL? Does it give them valuable ammunition for getting four- and five-star rated players to know that at LSU you don’t have to be a starter to be an NFL player?

NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein believes Reddick, who stands at 6 foot 1 and weighs 237 pounds, might end up being better built for a more traditional linebacker role in the NFL over that of a 3-4 outside linebacker/pass rusher, though each are considered by many to be positions of need for the Colts.

The Browns traded Mingo to the Patriots during last year’s preseason.
With New England, Mingo was mainly used as a special teams player, logging a total of 54 defensive snaps with the Patriots.

Starting from their own three-yard line, the Jets put together their best drive of the night. A 40-yard completion to Matt Forte, plus a 15-yard penalty on Zach Kerr, put the Jets inside the 10-yard line. But a red-zone stop from the Colts led to a 38-yard field goal from Nick Folk. The Colts lead was 14-3 at the 10:31 mark of the second quarter.

In all, the Colts had three sacks on Sunday and limited Green Bay’s offense — which came into the game leading the league with a 51.6-percent conversion rate on third downs — to just 4-of-12 successful third down attempts throughout the contest.

“A tremendous, tremendous effort from this defense today,” Pagano said. “They got some yards there late, but what a tremendous job that Ted Monachino and all those assistants on defense and those players did. They played their butts off.”

Monachino, the first-year Colts’ defensive coordinator, got creative with many of his looks to be unpredictable against Rodgers. At times, Indianapolis was playing eight-man coverage schemes, utilizing a three-man rush to be sure the coverage was there down the field. NFL Indianapolis Colts Stitched Snapback Hats 036

After every season is complete, each National Football League team has a certain fixed amount of money available to pay to any player that stepped foot onto the field for that club, broken up by playtime percentage.

Generally, the more playing time a certain player received compared to their salary that season, the more in this performanced-based pay that they receive.

Sophomore Jordan Presley became Homestead’s single-season rushing leader by running 16 times for 243 yards and three touchdowns in a 66-31 decision over Fort Wayne Northrop. Presley now has 1,548 yards, breaking the previous mark of 1,402 yards by Will Luzar in 1986. Jiya Wright added 170 yards through the air and one score and ran for two more touchdowns for the Spartans. Garrett Schoenle tossed for 201 yards and one score for the Bruins.

They say rookie seasons in the NFL can be a learning experience

The radio entertainment that day had on South Florida head coach Willie Taggart.

authentic colts jerseys

Moore was listening to Taggart rave about a freshman starter named Marlon Mack and his 275-yard, four-touchdown debut. “He’s saying, ‘I’m telling you there’s something unique about (Mack),’” Moore now says about how Taggart was describing the program’s eventual school-record holder.

Ferguson will rely on that experience as he tries to battle for a roster spot the next few months. Indianapolis used a fourth-round pick in last week’s NFL Draft on another speedy running back, Marlon Mack, who had a standout career at the University of South Florida.

You listen to Zach Banner and he sounds like a walking spokesperson for the city of Indianapolis. Banner has spent four days in his new home, all coming earlier this year at the NFL Combine.

Before the final day of the draft got underway on Saturday, Chris Ballard met the media. Ballard said he was interested in drafting an offensive lineman on Saturday to add some competition. The Indianapolis Colts jersey cheap took four offensive linemen in last year’s draft but still wanted to add one more in 2017, despite a weaker OL class this year.

Similar to Zach Banner on offense, the Colts do not need immediate contributions from their trench rookies.

The huge Banner offers depth and a lot of potential as a 6’10 right tackle for the future and you can’t ignore how the size could make him a great blocker with a Joe Haeg like impact. “I thought he was the best defensive lineman there,” Chris Ballard said after selecting Stewart with the final pick of Round Four. “For a big man, he can move. He can get off the ball. He’s got strength. We think there’s a lot of upside, and we think he can play three different spots. Nike Colts #12 Andrew Luck Black Women's Stitched NFL Limited Gold Salute to Service Jersey

Basham is a physical and relentless presence as a pass rusher, traits that earned him Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Year awards last season with Ohio University. But he will be making the transition from playing with his hand in the dirt at all times to becoming a stand-up 3-4 outside linebacker in Monachino’s defense.

We had a few T.J. Green questions in this week’s mailbag. The Colts do have some flexibility back there given what Darius Butler can do. However, I think they want Butler at safety. Now, if the Colts can’t find any cornerbacks in the draft, maybe that changes some things. I still believe that how Butler’s skills can co-exist with the physical nature of Geathers, makes more sense at the safety position. Let Green play that nickel roll and find some corner talent in the draft.

They say rookie seasons in the NFL can be a learning experience.

Ask T.J. Green if that accurately describes his debut year in the NFL and the safety’s hand is likely to be raised in the air.

Basketball in high school kept Hooker away from the football field until his junior year. Hooker is very raw with his experience at safety. Hooker redshirted at Ohio State in 2014 and did not become a full-time starter until 2016. The Colts are going to have plenty of options in how they choose to use Hooker and the other defensive backs next season. With Hooker, Clayton Geathers, T.J. Green and Darius Butler, the Colts have some decisions to make when multiple defensive backs are needed. Butler, who moved to safety when he re-signed in March, has ample nickel cornerback experience. Coming out of college, Green was thought to be a possible cornerback at the next level. Ted Monachino now has plenty of choices for his defensive packages in 2017.

The 2016 MAC Defensive Player of the Year, is the next try at that

In Round Three of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Colts selected edge rusher Tarell Basham at No. 80 overall.

Discount Indianapolis Colts jerseys

They were encouraged about what they saw. That, along with the length and quick reaction at the snap, has the Colts intrigued about the pass rushing Basham will try to bring to professional football.

Ballard does believe that Basham can be more than just a pass rusher. The 42.5 tackles for loss from Basham backs up that belief.

From his talks at the Combine and observations of the Colts after three defenders in three draft picks, Basham knows he is part of something big in Indianapolis.

When looking at potential pass rushers each year in the NFL Draft, one of the most important questions a general manager asks himself is, “Is this guy a flash in the pan, or has he shown consistent improvement that can continue at the next level?”

And while there are countless examples of teams across the league falling in love with players who might’ve exploded their final year in college, only to see them become completely overmatched and rendered useless in the NFL colts jersey cheap , it appears Tarell Basham’s story could be much different.

Colts #85 Pierre Garcon White Stitched Youth NFL Jersey

A young pass rusher was an absolute must for the Colts in this draft. Basham had 29.5 sacks and 42.5 tackles for loss in his four seasons at Ohio University. At 6-4 and 249 pounds, Basham will likely move to outside linebacker in the 3-4 defense for the Colts. He was a 4-3 defensive end at Ohio. The Colts have tried unsuccessfully to groom the franchise’s next top pass rusher. Basham, the 2016 MAC Defensive Player of the Year, is the next try at that. Colts #85 Pierre Garcon White Stitched NFL Jersey

Cornerback was easily the most obvious need for the Colts going into the 2017 NFL Draft. In the previous five drafts for the Colts, D’Joun Smith was the lone cornerback chosen by Indianapolis. Wilson’s name often appeared in the first round of Mock Drafts throughout the draft process. He ended up being the third cornerback taken in Friday’s second round. Per Pro Football Focus, Wilson’s quarterback rating allowed last season was 29.9, the lowest for any SEC cornerback.

A capable third cornerback is vital for a defense to survive in the NFL this decade. Is that D’Joun Smith’s role in his second NFL season? The Colts remain optimistic on Smith after some “buzzard luck” shelved him for all but four games of his rookie campaign. A name missing from that trio is 2015 third-round pick D’Joun Smith, the highest draft selection of the guys mentioned above.

D’Joun Smith jersey authentic

For the first time under Ryan Grigson, the Colts traded down in the NFL Draft. With the No. 65 overall pick, they selected D’Joun Smith, a cornerback from Florida Atlantic. After trading back to the No. 65 pick (the top of the third round), the Colts took Florida Atlantic cornerback D’Joun Smith with their second selection of 2015.

The team elected to waive/injure D’Joun Smith, after knee and ankle injuries limited the second-year corner to just one preseason game (15 snaps) in 2016.

Confidence is a necessity when being on an island at the cornerback position and D’Joun Smith spoke like one on Friday night. Known as an “instinctive” player, Smith was a two-time Conference USA selection highlighted by seven interceptions as a junior. Smith said he “hit it off” with the Colts during a Combine interview and Chuck Pagano was present at the Florida Atlantic Pro Day to watch Smith.

The Colts now have nine cornerbacks remaining on their 74-man roster. Injuries will still play a role in who rounds out that corner group this weekend. Saturday at 4:00 p.m. ET is the deadline for the Colts to cut their roster down to 53.

The Colts started off their 2017 NFL Draft by finding a defensive playmaker

The Colts started off their 2017 NFL Draft by finding a defensive playmaker. Safety Malik Hooker, from Ohio State, was the choice with the 15th overall pick.

Malik Hooker game jersey

The kid from an hour north of Pittsburgh growing up a Colts fan. It’s not something you hear very often, but that was childhood life for Malik Hooker.

Real life, Malik Hooker was joining the Indianapolis Colts. “I definitely didn’t expect it at all,” Hooker said minutes after the Colts took him with the 15th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

The cement was drying on the 2017 draft board in Indianapolis, but Ballard wanted to bring in another prospect for a top-30 draft visit. Had Mock Drafts caught wind of the Colts hosting Ohio State safety Malik Hooker for a draft visit, they probably would have laughed.

But the immediate reactions are in, and the Colts’ selection of Ohio State safety Malik Hooker as the 15th-overall pick in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft has brought with it an overwhelmingly positive vibe. The due diligence and homework of Ballard paid off when seven offensive players were taken in the top 10 of Thursday’s first round.

We had quite a few inquiries regarding these sorts of questions in Saturday’s mailbag. In short, I have no idea how the Colts will handle the abundance of safeties on the roster. The Colts needed to upgrade their playmaking at safety. Malik Hooker jersey does exactly that. The Colts had eight total interceptions last season in 16 games. Hooker had seven himself in 13 games. Geathers is going to play. He has a presence that you have to have on the field. Maybe this pick means we will see Geathers closer to the line of scrimmage more often. With Butler, the Colts know they have some flexibility, but I still think the veteran voice of his is necessary at the back end of things.

cheap Indianapolis Colts jerseys

One thing missing from the Colts last season was playmaking out of the secondary. The Colts ranked 26th in forced turnovers, not creating enough chances for the offense via takeaways. Hooker took three of his seven interceptions back for touchdowns last season. At 6-2 and 205 pounds, Hooker’s ball skills were a major reason why some draft pundits thought he would go in the top-10 of the draft. While Hooker’s tackling is a concern, his coverage ability was a definite strong suit. As Chuck Pagano said, “see ball, get ball” is how the Colts will handle Hooker, offering up an Ed Reed comparison. The Colts will have to wait a bit to see Hooker on the field. Surgery earlier this year for Hooker (hip/groin) will likely keep the first-round pick out of action until Training Camp.

In the weeks (and months) leading up to the 2017 NFL Draft, many pundits agreed that the Indianapolis Colts would pursue a cornerback — they just couldn’t seem to come to a consensus about which prospect would land in Indy.Indianapolis Colts Ladies Metallic Thread Scarf Blue

Florida cornerback Quincy Wilson was the selection at No. 46 overall in Round Two.
So with so much talent on the board at an obvious position of need, the Colts landed on Florida cornerback Quincy Wilson, whom they selected 46th overall.

However much confidence/swagger is needed to play on Sunday’s, new Colts cornerback Quincy Wilson believes he’s got it.

“You got to have the confidence to play this position and I feel like I definitely have that and that’s why I make the plays that I make,” Wilson said after the Colts selected him at No. 46 overall on Friday night.

From a sheer immediate need standpoint, the pick of Wilson was higher on the list than that of Hooker, when talking strictly about 2017 and the state of the current roster.

Bret Bielema has seen many of his players go on to have successful NFL careers

The Colts also signed Fahn Cooper earlier this offseason. Cooper, a tackle, was a 2016 fifth-round pick of the 49ers.

Chris Ballard has mentioned the Colts would not be opposed to keeping 10 offensive linemen if the numbers allow for it come roster cut down.

Cooper, 6-5, 306 pounds, spent the entire 2016 season on the San Francisco 49ers practice squad. He participated in the 49ers 2016 offseason program and training camp before being waived during final cuts on September 3 and was signed to the team’s practice squad the next day. Cooper was originally selected by San Francisco in the fifth round (174th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Dawson Dahnke accounted for 200 yards of offense with two scoring runs and two touchdown catches as Harrison (West Lafayette) earned a share of the North Central Conference title with a 68-7 win over Richmond.

Will Jones carried the ball 26 times for 194 yards and three scores for Lapel in a 42-14 win over Eastern Hancock.

So with that in mind, it certainly wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibilities for the Colts to pursue a young, talented player like Wilson in this year’s draft.

At cornerback, the Colts go into the offseason with two of their starters from 2016 ready to return in Vontae Davis and Patrick Robinson (who ended the season on IR). The team also got strong contributions from four-year veterans Rashaan Melvin and Darryl Morris, and signed Charles James II late in the season.

Men’s Nike NFL Indianapolis Colts Sideline Legend Authentic Logo Tank Top Black

Eric Jones ran 25 times for 195 yards and five touchdowns for Mount Vernon (Fortville) in a 40-21 win over Yorktown.

Zander Horvath ran 25 times for 192 yards and four touchdowns and caught a pass for another tally as Mishawaka Marian claimed the Northern Indiana Conference South Division title with a 35-13 win over South Bend Washington.

Behind Vontae Davis, the Colts have Rashaan Melvin, Darryl Morris and Charles James. Those guys have never been full-time starters in the NFL. The staff did like what Melvin provided Indianapolis in extended action last season.

So while the cornerback position appears set for the most part, the Colts know from experience that anything can happen, and Indianapolis Colts jersey china  that building depth at the position will be key. Which makes a prospect like Wilson all the more interesting.

Vontae Davis was added to the injury report with an ankle injury. He’s listed as questionable for Sunday’s game with the Titans. Nike Indianapolis Colts Sideline Legend Authentic Logo Dri-FIT NFL T-Shirt Dark Green

Davis was a full participant in practice Thursday and Friday after resting on Wednesday. It is not known when or how Davis got the ankle injury.

Bret Bielema has seen many of his players go on to have successful NFL careers, but it was Tevin Mitchel, more than anyone else, that turned on the jets in just one year’s time to go from virtual unknown to NFL prospect during the 2014 NCAA college football season.

“I don’t know in my coaching career now, head coach for 10 years, I don’t know if I’ve seen a player change the value of [his] name more in one year than Tevin Mitchel,” the Arkansas head coach told ESPN 980 last year. “A guy that maybe a year ago was a guy that people targeted and his last year they didn’t want to have anything to do with him.”

But after sitting out an entire year, Mitchel says he has a new appreciation for the game, and considers himself lucky that his self-described Colts “family” took a chance on him.

Hope this week to let Langford back to practice

The Colts returned to Anderson on Tuesday morning and will be on the practice field without veteran defensive end Kendall Langford.

After 135 straight games played, the most of any active defensive lineman, Kendall Langford was inactive.

Langford had never missed a game in more than eight NFL seasons, such a feat defensive lineman hopelessly dream about, with little shot at reality.

Chuck Pagano was hoping to get Langford back to practice this week, but clearly the injury did not allow for that.

A preseason knee scope back in August for Langford was the beginning of a very difficult 2016 for the nine-year veteran.

Langford, who also dealt with an abdomen injury earlier this year, was healthy enough to play in the regular season opener, but was not himself in the first seven games.

In today’s media scrums, Chuck Pagano talked about the injury news to Langford, center Ryan Kelly returning to practice and how the Colts will handle the rest of the preseason after having their opener cancelled on Sunday night.

Langford was supposed to be in Wisconsin, where the Indianapolis Indianapolis Colts jersey were prepping for their game the next day against the Green Bay Packers.

After 135 consecutive games played (which was the longest active streak for an NFL defensive linemen) this was the second  straight Saturday Langford spent knowing the following Sunday wasn’t going to include football.

With 300-pound bodies constantly clanging and banging in the trenches, health in the defensive front can evaporate quickly.

Langford signed with the Colts as a free agent in March 2015 after seven productive seasons with the Miami Dolphins and the St. Louis Rams. He made an immediate impact on the Indianapolis defense, turning in a career year last season with 40 total tackles (10 for a loss), a team-high-tying seven sacks and three passes defensed in 16 games, all starts.

He entered the 2016 offseason sure to play a similar role for the Colts once again, only with a little more competition and depth along the defensive line. But a nagging injury to his right knee only got worse, so Langford and the team elected to go with minor surgery to clean everything up on Aug. 8.

The Colts caught a late break right before halftime. With the Jaguars looking to score again, Jacksonville kicker Jason Myers missed wide right from 30 yards out.

“But the Green Bay game was that much more difficult because the guys traveled. I was at home. My wife and my kids all went to the Pacers game. I’m like, ‘This feels weird.’ I’m at a (NBA) game and my guys are in Green Bay. Then come Sunday, I’m watching them from the couch. It was very weird.”

In the week leading up to the Chiefs’ game, the Colts elected to shut Langford down for a period of time.

On Thursday, the Colts elevated tackle Jeremy Vujnovich to the 53-man roster from the practice squad. Vujnovich, 6-5, 300 pounds, has spent time on the Colts active roster and practice squad this season.

On Wednesday, third-round pick Le’Raven Clark became the final draftee to ink his rookie deal.

At pick No. 82 back in April, the Colts selected Clark. During the team’s offseason program, Clark has worked as a reserve right tackle.

No Colts’ rookie waited longer for their NFL introduction than Le’Raven Clark.

Inactive for 8 of the first 12 games this past season, Clark had what looked to be a glorified redshirt season through the first three months of the year.
